    On the job

Grass and wildland fires are a big part of what we do in southeast Mayes County.

    Stay safe

Practical steps that prevent fires and help us reach you faster.

    Smoke alarms

Install alarms on every level, inside each bedroom, and outside sleeping areas. Test them monthly and replace alarms that are 10 years old.

    Outdoor burning

Check whether a county burn ban is in effect before burning trash, brush, or pastures. Never leave a fire unattended, and keep water and tools nearby.

    Visible address

Mark your 911 address at the road, visible from both directions, day and night. Seconds count when we’re searching a dark county road.

    Defensible space

Keep grass mowed and brush, firewood, and debris cleared away from your home, barns, and propane tanks.

    Heating season

Have chimneys and wood stoves inspected, keep space heaters three feet from anything that burns, and never run generators or outdoor heaters indoors.
